Capuchin Gate

The last remaining perfectly preserved gate, Porta Cappuccini is one of the symbols of San Quirico d’Orcia, the first architecture one encounters coming from the east.

A polygonal gate-tower, construction of which began in 1473. The outer fountain has six sides, and in a central position there is a round-arched doorway covered by a barrel-vaulted passageway equipped with a plumb line.

On the outside, the door volume is crowned by a series of shelves.
